Some federal agencies use their own systems to accept and review proposals for potential funding.  Fibi is still required for both JHURA and School of Medicine Research Administration Offices both to ensure all sponsor and university requirements are met, and to authorize the submission of a project to these agencies.

Workspace

The Application Submission System & Interface for Submission Tracking (ASSIST) system is used to prepare and submit applications electronically to NIH and other Public Health Service agencies.  Active Grants.gov and eRA Commons credentials are required to prepare and submit applications using ASSIST.

Workspace is the standard way for organizations or individuals to apply for federal grants in Grants.gov. Workspace allows a grant team to simultaneously access and edit different forms within an application. Plus, the forms can be filled out online or offline — your choice.

Several external agencies require users to create accounts and require an authorization that must be granted by Johns Hopkins.

Department of Defense (DOD)

Process

User requests an account at DOD as an Account Administrator in the eBRAP system.   Please be sure to use a JHU email address for the request.

ORIS staff receive an email requesting review for approval/rejection.

NSF Fastlane/Research.gov (NSF)

NOTE: There is a new process for Research.gov as of October 27, 2024.  See ORIS NOTES, October 18th, message for details.

Authorization

Once you request a role, JHURA/SOM ORA will receive this request electronically to approve or disapprove.

FedConnect

User requests an account at FedConnect.   Please be sure to use a JHU email address for the request.

eRA Commons

Process

New user must fill out the eRA Commons Access Request Form found here https://jhura.jhu.edu/proposaldevelopment/forms/ and send it to [email protected].  

Authorization

A new account will be set-up upon receipt of the form and user will be notified electronically through eRA once the account has been established. 

Proposal Central

Process

New user must create an account on PC site. Process

New User must register on the eBRAP site . Registration starts with selecting the role they will need in the system. Once the profile is created, the user must affiliate their profile with “Johns Hopkins University.” https://ebrap.org/eBRAP/public/index.htm

GrantSolutions

Process

New user account requests (Federal and Recipient) for FMCSA and FRA can be submitted using the Electronic User Request form. Once the initial information (First Name, Last Name, and Email Address) is submitted, check your email for the next steps required to complete the registration. Use the link provided in the email to continue the request process.
